The 24 Hour Middle Grounds trip left at noon on Friday, the Gulfstar saw great weather and had beautiful, flat conditions on its 5 hour ride to their first stop.

The first drop produced lots and lots of American Red Snapper, all were released unharmed. Capt. Rich moved many times, fishing between 130 and 200 feet of water. The 15 anglers onboard the Gulfstar caught amberjacks, mangrove snappers, vermillion snappers, yellowtail snappers, scamp groupers and an impressive amount of porgies up to about 7 lbs. They also caught some king mackerels, 10 shorts, only 1 keeper. In addition, they also saw a nice amount of red and gag groupers; of course they were released.

We are really excited about the reopening of grouper season. March 15 is only days away, and the 44 hour Middle Grounds trip on March 16 is SOLD OUT! Spots are going quick on the March 23 too.

The American Red Snapper season opens in just over a month. With the amount of American Reds we saw this weekend things are looking good for the 44 Hr trip scheduled on April 20.
