Today we has on Board Robin (Ms Grit, her son Matt and her Da and their good Friend Bill (Tightlines) Goal was Stripers.......
Was real encouraged with the day as he bite had turned on the day before with some good fish...weather was almost perfect......set out at 0600 with a load of Fisty Bunkers in the well.
Made it to the rocks and set up live lining, reading good marks on the machine....made a few drifts and had a couple Blue Run offs......changes around location to deeper water and landed Blues to 12 lbs....Robin had a beauty that was tail walking on the water, young Matt muscled a bruiser into the boat and Pop added another yellow eye deamon. Billl had a couple good runs but no cigar.
Was ready to change locations to the south and noticed all the sourthern boats steaming to the north. Figuring the Good bite of the day before at Asbury was not happening we worked the rocks some more. Bill switched over and boated some small Sea Bass and Fluke. Did not see a line sider landed on any of the charter/private boats in the area only a hand full of Blues.
Went in search of good reading or life, could not find one Bunker school, nor was there any sign of birds working. Headed up to between the channels, Romer Shoal and the Rips, nodda.
Ran in the bay to a nice hole that holds Bass and Weaks, zippo, Bill landed a nice keepers Fluke.
There was a special catch of the day when Robing reel started screaming and pole bent over, after a long fight she finally got the prize to the boat "Batman" a fully function 12" Batman.
I must say that it was great to see three generations sharing the outdoors, really did my heart good to see Matt his Mom and Grandpa share that specail time together.
While the intended target (Stripers) of the day did not materialize, I feel that the day, the company and good times were a 10 out of 10.
