Choosing a Charter Boat

Visiting the Miami area and looking for the perfect charter Boat? You would think that would be easy now right, google Miami charter fishing and there they are 50 boats. Ok, now what. On the internet you can make your business look like a huge operation, when in reality it is not, you may find half the boats listed are really not even boats but brokers that offer boats for charter to receive a commission. Or you may find you self chartering a boat you see in a picture and find a completely different boat when you arrive at the dock in the morning. The business took a real turn when the internet showed up. Boat owners that were out fishing really did not change much but the boats and captain with little or no experience saw the opportunity to get aboard and start chartering the boat that used to be there personal boat or a friends boat that needs extra money. It is really hard to know which boats are really in the business or just pretending.

Questions to ask when chartering the boat

1. How long have you been fishing on the boat you run now
2. How long have you been in Miami fishing and are you full time
3. Do you have a full time crew, and what are there names
4. Is the boat I am seeing on the web the boat I will fish on
5. What type tackle do you use, Penn, Diawa ext
6. Do you Kite fish?
7. Do you have A/C , that is a must in Miami, even in winter
8. Is the boat clean and maintaincd
9. Usually the sites that have lots of options are brokers, the real fishing boats keep it simple.

These are a few questions that might help, but even then you really never know unless you get some type of referral. And so you know there is more than one good boat in Miami and on Key Biscayne. It is hard to pin point them sometimes.
