Ahoy there one and all!!

It Has been a while since I have written a fishing report and for that I apologies to all.

But the reason is because the rock fish have just been bighting great!

With My long time friend, Peg Jaegar from Wisconsin, breezing into town and taking her out fishing. Which she does every year and sometimes twice or three times.

Ohh, did forget to tell you she forgot her fishing rod. So she comes up and sweet talks old Capt Smitty out of one of my rods to fish with.

Hmmm….

Since I have known this woman for over 30 years I think I can trust her with "My Rod".

Well she has been fishing with me for as long as I have known her. Pretty close to 33 years if memory serves me. Many of you have fished with her over the course of your time with me on all the various vessels. For instance she was there on the Carrie when the salmon were at there best one year off Double point.

Darn Women, caught the first and it was also the biggest of the day of, yes dare I say it, 3 fish salmon limits!!!

But to this trip,

She takes my littlest fishing rod ( 12 lb test) and we go out to one of my favorite little spots that I had been saving for this occasion.

The drift was perfect to hit the spots for a great drift.

Ok so I set it up and she ties on a big rubber tail.

Well I rolled my eyes and watched her cast this thing out and hook a solid fish!

Doubles her over instantly with its size and well it was 12 lb test.

Ok she sets up again and casts again with a diamond jig.

She instantly is hooked up to another SOLID hog fish!!!

She learned to back off her drag when the fish wanted to serge.

Well I just put down my rod and just watched one of my best friends shouting Holy shit there she goes!!!!!

With the fish surging back down about 15 feet!

But she has this rod yes it is a little noodle rod what do you expect for a 12 lb test rod of mine????????????

She has this thing darn near doubled over with this fish

Well, She hangs on to this fish for 20 minuets working it up to the boat.

All the while I am just leaning on the rail watching her.

I think that is one of the juices of why I do this.

She was working this "But" up to the boat. With Zack standing there with the gaff, I just decided to stand there and taunt her some more.

She finally had the Halibut up close enough for Zack to Gaff this monster!!

He stuck the gaff right in the gill and starting hauling this garage door on the boat.

Sucker was huge!

When we finally got it contained (and Peg lit a cigarette) we weighed it and it tipped the scales at 32 lbs. There were 4 Buts and a big starry flounder caught as well as limits of rock fish and a bunch of Cabbies as well.

This was one of the most fun days of the season for me to watch my friend Peggy struggling to land that fish.

But I have seen her in pain many times before with one of my rods!

There will be many more as well!!
