Another few days of reasonable weather has resulted in some fabulous snapper fishing in close.Snapper are one of our most savoured table fish so they are high on the catch list for our clients. Many times if the weather is not suitable to fish the wide tuna grounds, we will target a days snapper fishing in close. We fish the snapper in depths of 30 to 70 metres (about 2.5 nm offshore) so if the westerlies(our prevailing winter winds) are screaming we can tuck in under the high cliffs and catch snapper, always a fun day.
We fish on anchor no engines running a little light music( sometimes I even get out my guitar and either play some of my original stuff off my albums or even a little Buffett.(Good for the body and good for the soul.)
Great days indeed.
However it is the wide grounds that have produced some great bluefin and yellowfin tuna and given fair weather that is where you will find BROADBILL and BILLFISHER We have had a run of big blues The cold 17 degree water has been the factor, this is a little cold for the yellowfin tuna but great for the blues. Fish have been landed and lost up to 300 lb. I am having another attempt to upload photos but they never appear.. If you want to have a look at our great web site it is www.gamefishingcharters.com.au there are thousands of photos inc these of black.blue and striped marlin big mahis wahoo and tunas Also some usefull How to' Catch Ozzie style.
