We left the dock a little late, 5:30 usually I like to leave around 4:00 but we had two 10 year olds on board. It was a family trip for a Whale watch/ Tuna trip. We got out to the grounds and found the whales scattered around. There were no concentrations anywhere. Unlike the reports from the previous day where the whales were bunched up and feeding. I decided to put out the rigs, we had lots of bird activity and some whales scattered about. We hadn't even sent the forth rig in the water yet when a large fish jumped on one of the outrigger rigs. We were hooked up. That fish ran for a considerable amount of time before stopping. We were fishing with tiagra wlrs50's. Spooled with 80lb. mono. The angler Chuck got strapped into the harness and went to work. It took him an hour to land the beast. What a battle. That fish took him to the brink of tears. Luckily the next fish wasn't quite as big. Anyone wanting to catch a large school bluefin tuna should think about going soon who knows how long these fish will be hanging around.. Check out my web-site and give me a call. I would love to have you aboard. Tuna fishing is my passion, Capt. Ray Ransom
