INSHORE - The inshore fishing has been steady if you didn't mind fishing in the wind. Most of the week the wind was blowing either north west or north east. I have been getting reports of scattered trout and redfish around the Queen's Cove area and also up around the Round Island area. These fish have been taking soft plastics baits or a live shrimp. If you are looking for snook then you need to try the local bridges and use a pinfish or a large live shrimp. You will need to fish it tight around the bridge fenders. Also, use a feather along the shadows of the bridge. Off the channel edges of the North and South Bridges look for plenty of sheepshead, sandperch and black drum action. A small live shrimp has been hard to beat. The reports have been steady and good about the spanish mackerel and bluefish around the Ft. Pierce Inlet. These fish have been hitting on all types of baits from a live shrimp to spoons.

OFFSHORE - The offshore fishing has been good bit, again the wind and sea conditions have been a major factor for most boaters. Reports are coming in about the scattered dolphin in 120 to 140 feet of water. Most of the fish that came into the docks this week were 15 pounds or under. Look for the kingfish action along the Offshore Bar in 90 feet of water. There will be some small sharks and cuda's in this same area. I got several reports of good size cobia being caught in the 50 to 60 foot range. A Cobia Slayer by Gulfstream Lures has been the way to go. When it is nice the inshore reefs are covered with sheepshead, croakers and weakfish. Look for the birds along the beaches and you will find the spanish mackerel and bluefish.

TEEN ANGLERS - The next monthly inshore fishing tournament for the local chapter of Teen Anglers will be held on March 18th at Jaycee Park in Ft. Pierce. The Teen's will be awarded trophies and fishing gear for their efforts. If you would like to volunteer to take a teen fishing or would like info on joining Teen Anglers just go to the web at www.teenanglers.org.

BRAGGING BOARD - John and Theresa Gilson caught their limit of nice size sheepshead on Wednesday. They also caught several mangrove snapper. They were using live shrimp. Wayne Wilson and Dave Collingwood caught their limit of nice size sheepshead on Wednesday. They were using live shrimp and fishing around the local bridges.

Bio: Capt. Joe has been fishing the waters of the Indian River since he was 6 years old. When his father first took him snook fishing on the old wooden bridges using nothing more than a Calcutta pole, 100 pound mono and a big mullet attached to a 6/0 hook. Capt. Joes first snook wasn't that big, about 10 pounds, but after a 5 minute fight his father helped him flip the snook up onto the bridge and that is when Capt. Joe knew he was hooked on snook fishing. Capt. Joe is a U.S.C.G. licensed Captain as well as a MET registered Captain.
