Great shallow water fishing on light tackle

Stellwagen Bank, Massachusetts - Saltwater Fishing Report
Stellwagen Bank

We hit them hard as sin to start the day. It was incredible. We fished on the northern part of Stellwagen Bank today, in shallow (100-120') water. We had equal numbers of cod and haddock today (keepers), but again lots of small fish. We fished with light tackle again--having a blast with every fish.

The big thing today was the whales--we had two whales open their mouths eating tons of sand eels a mere 5' from the back of our boat!! And we got it on video!!! We also had whales lounging on the surface next to our boat--we could have jumped on them!!

We passed stripers breaking in Plymouth Harbor this morning-it was exciting even though we weren't fishing for them. We're ready--the fish will be on the surface for some time now---we'll be fishing the flats of Cape Cod Bay for cruising stripers and blues. With the SW winds all week--the sea bass are up in Buzzards Bay now and it will be great.

LAST MINUTE THOUGHTS--INCREDIBLE WEATHER AND WE HAVE OPENINGS THIS WEEK. GIVE US A CALL AT 508-269-1882.

Keep having fun; we only live once.

Bio: I'm Capt. Rich Antonino and I specialize in small private charters in Massachusetts from April-November. We fish for cod/haddock from Green Harbor and Plymouth. We fish Buzzards Bay for sea bass, porgy(scup), fluke, stripers/blues. We love shark fishing and tuna fishing and our boat is perfect for that. It's fast--we cruise at over 30 mph and can hit 40 mph. The boat has a full cabin and more fishing space than most 6-packs! We have a blast.
