Fishing this week has been great. All week the rattle trap style baits have been the deal in shallow water on flats, points, and humps. Each day had between 10-20 fish with the big fish over 5 lbs each day. Been targeting shallow staging areas off the main river. Most of the fish have come from 2-5ft. The fishing is going to get better with more fish staging shallow each day.

Fished the BASS Weekend out of the State Park on Saturday. They had a great turnout with a little over 100 boats. I was boat 29 and the first 15 minutes of my day was really good catching one near 5 lbs, a 3 lber losing 2 more and my co-angler had one 4 lbs. After that fishing got tough. I tried to fish deeper water since they dropped the water a bunch but the fish were just swatting at bait.We did go shallow for an hour or so and caught 6 or 7 fish but all just keepers so I went looking for bigger fish deeper but it never worked out. Caught fish on traps in 5-7ft. I ended up with a little over 16 lbs got a check in 17th place. Almost 24 lbs won it and congrats to Jordan Lee with a little over 23 lbs in 3rd place. He is a awesome young fisherman at 17 and I'm sure we will see more from him.

I have days open in April.
