Went out yesterday with a fellow guide for a few hours to a favorite flat between Arroyo City and Port Mansfield on the Lower Laguna Madre. Complete overcast but light winds had the redfish up in the shallows and tailing hard. We were fishing out of my 18' Hell's Bays Boatworks 18' Guide Edition skiff and had this monster flat all to ourselves. That is pretty much the way things are down here. Quite a few boats out but they were all drifting in 2-4 ft. of water. So, as usual we were all alone. Had about 20 shots in 3 hours and had a blast. It can happen anytime down here, you just have to hit light winds. No monster fish, but they were all about 4-7lb. redfish. We had a blast.
