My good friends from BC, Dave and his buddy Tyler (a steelhead, salmon, and sturgeon guide) joined me for their 1st of 2 days floating the bow river. Dave has floated with me before but this was Tyler's first trip to Calgary to fish the bow.

The day started off with a bang as Tyler was into his first bow river rainbow still within view of the boat launch. It wasn't long after he had a brown that was even healthier. Mere minutes passed and he had another rainbow in the boat. We were starting to worry about Dave's contribution to landing fish when Dave joined the ranks with his first rainbow followed by several others.

Nymphing was producing good numbers of fish while floating but when I would pull into prime banks in search of snouts we were almost always met by feeding fish. Dave hooked a gorgeous rainbow that I got the best close up video eat I've ever had (have footage of 3 eats of natural insects followed by Dave's stonefly dry...it was amazing). That same bank also had a monster brown on it that probably will push 25-27" but he figured us out before we could fool him with the right bug.

What a day we had today, great fishing from the boat, and amazing dry fly fishing mid day and evening for rising fish (PMD's and stones all day, switching over to caddis at night).
