Key west fishing report january 22 2011

This past week Key west saw temps in the mid70's. The water temperature rose and the fish really started to become active, the Tarpon, Permit, Barracudas, sharks, and redfish were in all the usual places. At the beginning of the week they were not eating real well however if you put the time you would land a Key west trophy. My anglers caught everything on the flats except Bonefish which I did not fish for.

The most memorable trip was fishing with good friend Capt Mike Bartlett. We started out with the thought of a super slam "Tarpon, Permit, Bonefish and Redfish" the problem started with an early morning rain shower that put us on the water to late for the best tarpon bite. We saw a lot of Tarpon but they were spread out and we did not get an eat. The Permit fishing started slow but heated up real quick, we landed 1 and had several other shots before the tide washed us out and the clouds set in. The Red fishing has been surprisingly strong this year and both spots we hit produced instantly. The Bone fishing did not happen due to horrible weather conditions. I would like to say thank you to all my anglers and Capt Mike Bartlett.
