Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Report

Lake Ray Roberts is 8" below normal level and water is being released at 1288 cfs. Water temperatures are

64 to 70 degrees. Water color is stained to muddy depending on what area of the lake you are in. Finally we have had warm weather long enough to warm up the whole lake and the fish are really responding. largemouth bass fishing is good in shallow water around the flooded bushes around the shoreline. Fish are spawn to post spawn depending on the area of the lake you are in. Best bait is Yum Dinger 4" fished T-Rig with no weight. Catching some also on Yum Wooly Bug T-Rig with a 1/16th oz. weight. Best color is junebug, and watermelon anything is working too. We are catching some fish on Bomber Square A 3/8 oz. crankbait in chartreuse and blue, this bait will catch numbers of fish but if you are after the bigger bite the soft plastics is your best bet. We are catching all the fish in 1 to 4 feet of water fishing the soft plastics REALLY!!!!!!! slow.

Sand bass fishing is as good as it gets on Ray Roberts and we are catching them 2 at a time in this warming water. Still catching all our fish on Cotton Cordell 3/4 oz. CC Spoon chrome with a Flies-By-Night sea green fly tied 14 inches above the spoon. Catching most fish 20 to 30 ft. deep on points on the main lake from Isle du Bois State Park to Wolf Island. The wind this spring has made it a real challenge some days but the fishing has been so good we can find them biting as we are hiding from the wind. we are catching a lot of small fish but have had no problem filling the ice chest with limits of good ones. Some days the birds help us find the fish but just looking at the structure with electronics is the best bet.

Have fun fishing,

Tim
