Sails and Kings

The title kind of gives you a hint of what has been going on aboard the Lucky27. We have had several cold fronts pass in the past couple of weeks and that has given the fishing the jumpstart we were looking for. As the fronts travel from north to south they push sailfish and other game fish into the warmer waters off the coast of Miami. And with every passing cold front the fishing gets better in Miami.

We have been also catching kingfish into the high 20#class. We have been getting most our fish on a breakaway lead right underneath the boat. What I haven't seen is a lot of mahi-mahi. The good thing is that this time of year we don't have to run far offshore to find them as they are usually right on the edge. We usually catch them while fishing for sailfish.

The swordfish bite slowed for about a week but has comeback pretty strong. As of last night someone caught a 530+ fish. The fish had a 106 (LJFL) x 60" girth. Congratulations to Drew and his team. That is the type of fish that can show up on any given night while sword fishing. That is what keeps you coming back.

I myself have not been out sword fishing due to the fact that I have been bait fishing for goggle eyes (bigeye scad) to fill some orders we had received. If you live in the Miami area and you need goggle eyes give us a call and we will deliver to your house.

Well that is it for now. The fishing is starting to takeoff and soon we will be able to add tarpon to the mix in about a month or so and then our "season" will be off and running.

Best of Luck…
