"MIRAGE" FISHING REPORTS FOR 9/13-9/14 CANYON

The Mirage made it's first trip to the Canyon & celebrated it's return with a big catch of Yellowfin & Longfin. At the helm was Capt.Bruce Miller ,mates Jarred Pollara & Dennis Galante leading the Jeff Milton, Hackensack,NJ of Vigon International to the Hudson Canyon. The group also included Dave Soltis, Clifton,NJ, Phil Abbott, Brick,NJ, Glenn Sabat, Brick,NJ, Alan Brown,Holland Pa, & Nic Morganthaler of Little Ferry,NJ. The trip started withThe Mirage setting up on the East Wall near the 100 Square in 787 ft. of water with a temperature of 74.9 degrees at 6 PM. The first fish, a Longfin came to gaff about 8 PM and then nothing although we marked fish heavy all that time. I knew they would bite sooner or later and they did at 1:30 AM. The bite lasted to about 3 AM and a total of 8 big Yellow's between 80 to 100 lbs were fought & boated, losing only 2. Again the bite started at about 5 AM with Longfin this time and 5 were put in the boat weighing 40 to 60 lbs. Only 2 Yellow's were lost during the early blitz. One yellowfin was jigged on a Butterfly rod weighing around 90-95 lbs after a 20 minute fight. A small Swordfish was hooked, sized-up & released being to small to keep ( about 75 lbs.). Had a beautiful ride out, flat like a lake all night & a nice smooth ride back to the barn. Best of all was that the new engine ran like a clock.

The Mirage will start running the open boat Canyon trips every Wednesday returning Thursday, starting 9/26 to 9/27.
