The Tarpon or Silver kings are making their way north and making their presence known in the North Pinellas county area of Florida. Large pods of rolling tarpon can be seen on most all of the beaches and in the passes. Free lining live greenbacks, pinfish or ladyfish on a bobber usually works when the fish are ready to eat.

Getting way ahead of the pod of tarpon and letting them come to you is the best way to get them to bite. Those that feel the need to chase them down will shut the bite off immediately and do nothing but waste gas running them down.

Tarpon in the 90lb range to over 200lbs are roaming the flats and make a catch of a lifetime when boated.
