Puerto Vallarta, Blanco is one of the best fishing places in the world. Located 50 miles out in the Pacific Ocean on a Knoll. This fishing hot spot is surrounded by all kinds of pelagic fish. The Banco goes on thousands of feet of water up to only 50 feet on the right tide and what time of the day you get there. The spot is not called el Banco for nothing. The fishing here is so spectacular it was called the bank. It's like going to your favorite Bank except for your collecting fish rather than money.
What can you catch around El Banco. Just depends upon the time of the year but you can always find huge tuna, Marlin, Mahi Mahi and sailfish in abundance. These are 12 to 14 our trips and are what we call a once in a lifetime fishing trip for most people.
There is also some good fishing on the way out to El Banco and of course, on the way back so when fishing El Banco it's like getting two fishing trips for the price of one. When fishing at the Banco most days we will be live baiting. When we live to bait this means we will be catching in 5 to 10 lb bonitas and using our downriggers. At times we will fish long line a hundred meters behind the boat for huge Marlin and huge tuna. The kite fishing can produce anything from sailfish to marlin and many other pelagic species.
Another favorite way to fish El Banco is called jigging. Jigging is going to produce snapper in all kinds of other fish that live around the Knoll that is only 50 feet deep in the high spots.
Some days when the tuna are real finicky we like to use the kite to keep all the line out of the water where we just dangle is a 10 lbs. bait on the surface. This very attractive way to catch a Marlin or tuna. Early in the mornings, we like to hit the Bronco with some high-speed lures that often produce Wahoo and the early morning Marlin.
