The early morning fog made navigating tricky but catching redfish once again was easy! Captain Steven has the redfish dialed in working deep cuts along mangroves and oyster bars. Winter low tides have redfish in big schools packed tight in these areas.

Today's first cast was hammered by another over the slot 30" golden bruiser. While some fish may be sluggish in the cool water this redfish was pulling drag over and over again. It's a 10 minute struggle to land these big redfish on light tackle. Live shrimp on the bottom was working like magic once again. You must keep your shrimp in contact with the bottom.

We didn't go 5minutes without a hit the next 2 hours. Another big hit was exciting to say the least as a 7 pound sheepshead slammed a shrimp. It was the largest sheepshead Captain Steven has had onboard this season.

When working oyster bars check your leader frequently as these crustaceans are razor sharp. I utilize 20, 25 and 30 pound fluorocarbon leader depending on water clarity.

Trout we loaded in a local canal but most were under 15". I took 10 minutes scouting for the large drum that invade Tampa Bay each winter. No luck but these monsters are not due for another 30 days.
