Sails and Tarpon

Sorry about the long time between reports. Let's get right to the fishing. Everyone has been calling me about the tarpon bite and here is the honest truth. The tarpon bite has been either very hot or very cold. We would either catch several large fish on one night or struggle to get one bite the whole night. On the nights that we have done well we have caught fish into the 120# mark. On the nights that we have struggled I watched four fishing guides drift every square inch of the beach and 2 separate inlets and not be able to muster one bite between the four of us. Luckily, that only happened one night and I guess if you tarpon fish as often as I do you will have nights like that. That being said we are still catching our fair share of fish. Right now we are experiencing some of strongest cold fronts of the year so those tarpon should turn on with the next shrimp run.

On the offshore bite we caught sailfish on every trip we did the past couple of days. Add to that the fact that we have had good current and some decent water and you have the combination for a successful sailfish trip.

In addition we have been catching kingfish into the 20# range to keep us entertained between sailfish bites. I am booked solid for the boat show and I am sorry if I was unable to fit everyone in. It is one of the busiest times of the year here in Miami. I do have some dates left in towards the end of February but not to many so give me a call and let's see if we can put something together.

Best of Luck…
