30/3/09 First Salmon caught on the Fly today, by Mr Dave Ecclestone of the UK, fishing with his Gillie's Mr Vincent O'Sullivan and of www.Vincenrsfishing.com and just for the record Vincent was telling me that it is the first time in Lough Currane History? that a Specimen Sea Trout was caught first on the fly before a Salmon and if this true, Dave has really made some history because as you all well know, he caught the first specimen Sea Trout on the fly this year, and to top it all he Christened his new Salmon rod. Wind WNW light and overcast, amount of rainfall 0.2mm, max air temperature 12.7c. 31/3/09 All quiet on the western front in all departments. Wind S light to fresh and overcast throughout the day. Max air temperature 13c. 1/4/09 It may have been April Fools day, but Mr Jim Sayers caught a Salmon on the drift on the Trout fly also in good form was Mr Dominic Mc Gillicudy with a Salmon in the 7lbs class caught on the troll so at least they are no Fools and for the rest of us no comment. In weather department the same as yesterday, max air temperature 13c and just for the record there was 82.8mm of rainfall for the month of February. 2/4/09 All quiet on all fronts, wind S light to fresh with bright sunshine throughout the day, max air temperature 13c. 3/4/09 again my noble salmon were not in a taking mood. Wind S fresh and overcast light rain all morning and as Neil O'Shea of www.Oshealoughcurrane.com was telling me, that it was very miserable to be out there especially when one saw little action and there is no argument to that. Amount of rainfall 18.3mm, max air temperature 14c. 4/4/09 One salmon caught on the troll on the North side by Mr Bob Priestly and that was that, and just for the record if you want Mr Bob Priestly CV go to www.loughcurrane.com and click Gillies/boat hire. Wind NW light to fresh bright and sunny with reasonable cloud cover at times. Amount of rainfall 1.4mm, max air temperature 11.2c. 5/4/09 There was on Salmon caught on the troll by Mr Walter Rushe of Switzerland with his Gillie Mr Frank Donnelly of www.Lakelandshouse.com and for the rest of the Angling community 0 need I say more. Wind SSE light to fresh and overcast. Amount of rainfall 5.6mm, max air temperature 11.4c. That is all the news this week from your Gillie and the Waterville Fishery. No Spin No Fly's just Facts.
