30/6/08 There was a fine 4lbs grilse and 3lbs sea trout caught on Lough Derriana by a guest fishing with his Gillie Mr bob Priestly and you can contact Bob @ 353 (0)879228662. Wind SSW fresh to strong and overcast with heavy rain on and off throughout the afternoon, amount of rainfall 10.2mm,max air temperature 16.3C/ 1/7/08 it was a wild day on Lough Currane with strong SSW gales blowing all day even though the odd boat did venture out. Wind as already stated and overcast with the odd heavy shower. 2/7/08 All quiet on the SW front even though there were a few Sea trout caught on Lough Currane but nothing that would hit the headlines, but it was a different story on the Commeragh River Where Mr Colin Lynham fishing out of WWW.Lakelandshouse.com caught a 6lbs Grilse and there were two more Salmon taken by other anglers, plus there were a few nice Sea Trout taken on the Commeragh, now to Lough Derriana where Mr Gerry Fitzpatrick and Mr Dave O'Neill caught three fine Sea Trout weighing in at 2.5lbs 2.75lbs and one over 4lbs.Wind SW light to fresh. 3/7/08 Again Lough Derriana kept the Wild Atlantic Salmon flag flying high when Rudolf caught a 8lbs Salmon and a fine Brown Trout on the troll with his gillie Mr Dominic Mc Gillicudy and you can contact Dominic on 353(0)87 2051515 and on the big lake/Lough Currane, there were just a few Sea Trout caught.4/7/08 Mr Colin Lynham fishing out of WWW.Lakelandshouse.com was the King of the fly when he caught two salmon of which the biggest weighed in at 11.5lbs and five Sea Trout to his basket all in the 1lbs to 2lbs class all caught on the fly in the Mouth of the Commeragh and he contacted five more good fish but they lived to see another day and just for the record Colin was with his Gillie Mr Mike O'Dwyer and talk about good luck and bad luck because one Gillie who will remain nameless, lost two Salmon today, talk about the ups and downs of a Gillie's life, and as they say, when your luck is in, make the most of it, because all Anglers and Gillies alike go through the old triangle and at times that old triangle is hard to get out of, until that rod is bent double and the Gillie takes one swipe of the net and the old gentlemen is in the boat and then all the bad days are forgotten, now to Lough Na Mona where Mr Ted Sivye caught two Sea Trout weighing in at 2.5lbs and 4.5lbs. Wind SE Strong and overcast with light to heavy at times throughout the day. 5/7/08 very slack NW which didn't make for good fishing but there was some good action elsewhere so our Manger Mr John Murphy reported to me and the facts are as follows, A Guest fishing on Lough Derriana caught a Grilse, also in good form was Mr John Curnew with one Salmon and four Sea trout caught on the Commeragh River and last but not least Mr Tom O'Shea of WWW.Oshaloughcurrane.com caught a fine 9lbs salmon also caught on the Commeragh River, now to the Butler Pool, a guest caught a Grilse on the fly with his gillie Mr Mike O'Dwyer. Wind as all ready stated with light rain for most of the afternoon. On Lough Currane a guest fishing with his gillie Mr Terence Wharton caught a nice Basket of Sea Trout and you can contact Terence on 353 (0)870638231 6/7/08 there was a strong N wind with light showers throughout the day, which did not fair well for the sea trout Anglers or my Noble Salmon angler, unless your names are Mr Colin Lynham and PJ Lynham because they caught five Sea trout all in the 2lbs class with their Gillie Mr Mike O'Dwyer and they weren't the only ones to see some good sport because Mr Tommy Duggan with his Grandson Tom Nugent caught seven Sea trout with their Gillie Mr Vincent O'Sullivan and @ WWW.Vincentsfishing.com Just for the record the amount of rainfall for July is 38.4mm. That is all the mews from your gillie and the Waterville Fishery. No Spin No Fly's just Facts.
