15/6/09 I start with a back date,12/6/09 Mr David Tantrum was in excellent form with two Salmon to his rod, and David was telling me, in forty years fishing Lough Currane it's the first time that he has caught Salmon on Trout Flies on the drift, he caught his first Salmon off Church Island which weighed in at 7lbs and finished the day off with a fine or I should say a excellent fish, weighing in at 12lbs and both fish were caught on a size 12 Thunder and lightening and all I can say, as a alcoholic once said to me when he drank his pint of larger well worth waiting for, and just for the record David was fishing out of the Waterville Inn, and I would like finish by thanking David for sending me his email with all the facts. Now back to the present, again we anglers had a NNE wind blowing all day, even though we had the odd shower it was mainly bright and sunny, but with all that I am sure the odd Sea trout were caught but nothing that would satisfy we greedy anglers, but it was a different story in the Salmon department where Mr Liam Ellis of Cork caught a 8.5lbs Salmon on the troll. Wind as all ready stated, amount of rainfall 2.4mm, max air temperature 17.5c.16/6/09 All quiet on the SW front in all departments, wind veered between SSE and SSW throughout the day with the rain coming in the evening so lets hope it makes a flood and it did, amount of rainfall 29..6mm, max air temperature 17.3c. 17/6/09 There was a massive flood last night and this morning but that didn't deter some anglers heading out early this morning and there was only one angler that hit's the headlines the one and only Mr Kevin Brain of the Waterville Angling Centre because he caught a 9lbs plus Sea Trout on the Commeragh River and on Lough Currane there were a few Sea Trout caught but nothing substantial. Wind NW fresh with reasonable cloud cover, amount of rainfall 22.2mm,max air temperature 15.5c. 18/6/09 Today it was Kevin's son Mr Sean Brain of the Waterville Angling Centre to catch three Sea Trout in the 2 to 3lbs class on the Commeragh River and staying with the Commeragh River, in the Salmon department Mr Mike Teahan, caught a Salmon in the 9lbs class and fished the day off with two Sea Trout in the 3 to 4lbs class, now Lough Currane very little action after the big flood and to be fair it will take another 24 hours to settle down?. Wind NW fresh to strong with heavy showers in the morning and afternoon, amount of rainfall 1.0mm, max air temperature 16.1c. 19/6/09 Mr Tom Duggan was the King of the fly, when he caught a 10lbs at the Fur Island with his Gillie MD and I can tell you he didn't need medical attention. Wind NW light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover, max air temperature 15.5c. 20/6/09 One Salmon to report by an angler by the holly Island and in the Sea trout department there were a few caught but no real rod benders, Now the Commeragh River, Mr Terence Wharton junior was telling since the big flood that he caught two salmon and three Sea trout on the Commeragh. Wind NW light with bright sunshine all day. Max air temperature 15.9c.21/6/09 today as you all know was the longest day and the same goes for the fishing just the odd Sea trout caught. Wind NW light to calm, with the odd very light shower, amount of rainfall 0.2mm, max air temperature 17.2c.Well, that is your ration for this week, from your Gillie and the Waterville fishery.
