23/3/09 Great News the first Spring specimen Sea trout of 8.5lbs was caught on the fly off the point of the Grassy Island, by Mr Dave Ecclestone of the UK with his Gillie Mr Vincent O'Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com and fair play to Dave because he is no stranger in the Specimen Sea trout department because he caught a 3.962kg last season 2008 and on a personal note I would like to thank Mr Paul Bourke and all the CFB team for putting this fine Sea Trout on the www.cfb.ie web site, and making it fish of the week within hours of being caught. In the Salmon department all quiet in troll and fly, even though I believe there were two Salmon lost on the fly but losses don't count. Wind NW fresh to strong and overcast with the odd light shower, amount of rainfall 0.3mm, max air temperature 11.7c 24/3/09 Mr Michael O'Sullivan of Waterville Boats and @ lobsterb@iol.ie fishing with his Son In-Law Mr Eric Jouen caught a 10lbs Salmon on the troll and for the rest of we so called Anglers the least said the soonest mended. Wind WNW fresh to strong, mind you that depends what side of Lough Currane you were fishing on, amount of rainfall1.1mm,max air temperature 11.6c. 25/3/09 Only action on Lough Currane was in the wind which was NW fresh to strong and overcast all day, max air temperature 11.3c. 26/3/09 It was a wild day on Lough Currane and as one great Gillie in the past once said, it was a bad hour, and I can tell you, all boats failed miserably in all departments bad hour or not or in their case a bad eight hours. Amount of rainfall 4.3mm, max air temperature 10.7c. 27/3/09 They say you can't keep a good fisherman down well Mr Walter Ruche was a perfect example of that today when he caught a fine 9lbs Salmon on the troll with his Gillie Mr Frank Donnelly of www.Lakelandshouse.com and for the rest of we so called Gillies no comment. Wind N fresh to strong with the odd shower, amount of rainfall 6.9mm, max air temperature 8.8c. 28/3/09 There were a nice few boats out but all failed in procuring My noble Salmon or one of Lough Currane's finest specimen Sea Trout. Wind N fresh to strong with bright sunshine throughout the day. Amount of rainfall 0.6mm, max air temperature 9.1c. 29/3/09 Here the Lough Currane Salmon results, Mr Walter Ruche and his Gillie Mr Frank Donnelly and of www.Lakelandshouse.com one Salmon caught on the troll, others 0 and just for the record I asked Frank what he caught his Salmon on he replied a hook, Frank was also telling me that the Wind was all over the place, but when Walter caught his salmon the wind was in the east, amount of rainfall 6.8mm, max air temperature 11.1c. So on that note, I your Gillie, will end this weeks report. No Spin No fly's just Facts.
