4/5/09 There may not of have been the excitement of yesterday, but I can say without any fear of contradiction, Mr Pete Mc Neill of the UK and his Gillie Mr Dominic Mc Gillicudy would beg to differ and for good reason, because they caught two fine Salmon on the troll, of which the biggest weighed in at 12lbs need I say more. Wind W and veered between NW and SW throughout the day and overcast with very light drizzle at times, amount of rainfall 0.9mm, max air temperature 12.4c 5/5/09 The Irish specimen committee know this specimen Sea Trout Hunter and fly angler, very well, as we all do, yes you have it, Mr Dave Ecclestone of the UK was at it again today, manipulating his flies on the Bank of the Church and caught himself a 10lbs 3oz specimen Sea Trout and what made the Sea Trout extra special, Dave was fishing by himself when he caught his fine Sea trout on a small silver stoat and his good friend Mr John Young of Waterville, caught a five lbs Sea Trout yesterday which he sportingly put back. Wind SW light to fresh and overcast, amount of rainfall 0.2mm, max air temperature 13.3c. 6/5/09 All quiet on the SW front. Wind WSW fresh to strong and overcast throughout the day, amount of rainfall 4.5mm, max air temperature 13.4c. 8/5/09 Lough Currane was on the wild side with a strong SW wind blowing and overcast, but that didn't stop Mr Nick Park of the UK catching a 12lbs Salmon on the fly off the point of Grassy Island with his Gillie Mr Bob Priestly Esq. Amount of rainfall 1.5mm, max air temperature 12.7c. 8/5/09 Mr John Baller of the UK, fishing out of the famous Butler Arms fishing & Golf Hotel and of www.Butlerarmshotel.com was the toast of Lough Currane when he and his Gillie Mr Neil O'Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught two Salmon on the troll, both fish were in the 10lbs and 12lbs class, and finished the day off with a fine 2lbs Sea Trout. Wind SW again fresh to strong with reasonable cloud cover. Amount of rainfall 4.3mm, max air temperature 12.6c. 9/5/09 All Anglers failed on the day shift even though I believe there were a few losses, but the same can't be said on the evening shift, where Mr Kevin Brain of the Waterville Angling Centre, caught a 9lbs Salmon on the troll, with his son Sean, so remember you can catch my Noble gentlemen out of Office hours. On the specimen Sea Trout front I was reading on www.loughcurrane.com that Mr Thorsten Scheider caught a fine 8lbs Sea Trout. Wind SW light to calm with reasonable cloud cover, amount of rainfall 3.2mm, max air temperature 12.0c. 10/5/09 There were three salmon caught on the troll, first in my striking zone was a 7lbs Salmon, caught by well know local Gillie Mr Donal Dwyer, also in good form with a 7lbs Salmon, was Mr Price fishing with his Gillie Mr Bob Priestly and I see www.Loughcurrane.com our manger Mr John Murphy Esq. is reporting a third Salmon caught by an angler fishing on his own, in the Sea Trout department, Mr Donal O'Shea of WWW.Loughcurranelodge.com caught a fine 5lbs3oz Sea Trout on the troll. Wind ESE then veered WNW light to calm all day with the odd light shower which I am sure it would hardly register, well put it this way I didn't have to put the waterproof coat on. Max air temperature 12.4c and that is your ration for this week, from your Gillie and the Waterville fishery. No spin No fly's just Facts.
