11/5/09 There was a strong and cold east wind blowing down the lake but that did not deter Mr John Baller of the UK and fishing out of the famous Butler Arms fishing & Golfing Hotel and @ www.Butlerarmshotel.com catching two fine Salmon one of 9lbs and one of 12 lbs and finished the day off with a fine Sea Trout in the 2lbs class all fish were caught on the troll with his reserve Gillie Mr Tom O'Shea and when I said this to Tom he replied, what big Brother did last week, I have done today, so you know what you can do with your reserve Gillie, and those words of wisdom I will close today's notes and just for the record you can contact Tom @ www.Oshealoughcurrane.com or tomsfishing@eircom.net Max air temperature 19.1c. 12/5/09 there was a fine 14lbs Salmon caught on the troll by Dr. Fox and there was also a fine 7lbs7oz specimen Sea Trout caught on the fly by Mr Barry as you will see when you see the photo, and just for the record Mr Barry was in a hired out boat from www.oshealoucurrane.com and a guest fishing with his gillie Mr Dominic Mc Gillicudy caught Sea Trout in the 2lbs class. Wind E first thing this morning then veered SSE for the rest of the day with bright sunshine all day and fairly warm, max air temperature 17.7c. 13/5/09 Mr Ken Towner of the UK and Waterville was the talk of the Lobster Bar when he walked in with a 8.5lbs specimen Sea Trout which he caught on the drift fishing by himself so congratulations to Ken. On the Salmon front I believe a guest fishing with Mr Dominic Mc Gillicudy caught 9lbs Salmon on the troll this morning. Wind ESE light and overcast with light drizzle this evening, max air temperature 13.4c. 14/5/09 All quiet on the SW front in the Salmon department on the Sea trout front, just one or two caught. Wind SW then veered NW late this afternoon with light rain all day, amount of rainfall 16.2mm, max air temperature 11.7c. 15/5/09 There were four nice Sea trout caught and I will leave the best to last, first in the striking zone was Mr Kevin Brain of the Waterville Angling Centre who caught a Sea trout, in the 4lbs class and Heinz Strappmen caught a 3lbs Sea Trout, with his Gillie Mr Neil O'Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com and Mr Bob Priestly who caught a 3lbs Sea trout on the fly, but Sea Trout of the day goes to Mr Peter Keenan who caught a fine specimen Sea Trout of 7.5lbs, on the Salmon front all quiet on the SW, but it was a different story on the famous Butler Pool and of WWW.Watervillegolflinks.ie where Waterville's Pro Golfer Mr Liam Higgins caught a 6.5lbs Salmon. Wind NW light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover, amount of rainfall 2.3mm, max air temperature 12.2c.16/5/09 Lough Currane was wild, with a strong WSW wind blowing and come lunch time all boats were landed? and talking of blowing, that is exactly what Mr Heinz Strappmen and his Gillie Mr Frank Donnelly did when they blew the old Sea Trout record of 11lbs7oz away, when they caught a fantastic Sea Trout of 12 lbs 5oz on the troll which is the new record for Lough Currane and the Waterville Fishery, need I say more, except congratulations to Mr Heinz Strappmen of Germany and his Gillie Mr Frank Donnelly of WWW.Lakelandshouse.com on the Salmon front, on the River Inny, Mr Michael Rodin caught a 9.5lbs Salmon, caught on the fly, with his Gillie Mr junior Scully Esq. and www.Loughcurrane.com is reporting tw0 Salmon caught on the Commeragh. Wind as already stated, amount of rainfall 5.6mm, max air temperature 12.2c. 17/5/09 My noble specimen Sea Trout were in good form again today with a 10lbs Sea Trout falling to Mr Mc Donald fishing with his gillie Mr Neil O'Shea of www.Oshealoughcurrane.com and fishing out of www.Curranelodge.com and on the Salmon front there were two salmon caught on the troll by O'Connell brothers and of www.orkonfishingtackle.com and both fish were in the 8 to 9lbs class. Wind SW fresh to strong and overcast with the odd shower, amount of rain fall 4.9mm, max air temperature 13.7c. Well that is your ration for this week, from your Gillie and the Waterville fishery.
