31/3/08 I start with a back date, on the 22/3/08 I failed to report a fine Salmon, caught on the troll by Mr Eddie Gronza of Germany, sorry for that Edie, I failed miserably in my duties and just for the record Edie was fishing out of WWW.Lakelandshouse.com now back today's action or the lack of it, there was nice water coming down the Commeragh but going by the returns we Anglers failed in all departments. Wind SW light to fresh and overcast with light rain throughout the afternoon. Amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours 7.1mm.1/4/08 this was no April fools day for Mr Dave Ecclestone of the UK who was the toast of Lough Currane when he caught his first ever Salmon of 7lbs on the fly and he was guided by his Gillie Mr Vincent O'Sullivan of WWW.Vincentsfishing.com so congratulations to Dave and may it be the first of many and just for the record they caught their fish between the Ledge and the Current in the Mouth of the Commeragh. Wind WNW light to fresh with good cloud cover. Amount of rainfall 0.1mm. 2/4/08 Lough Currane produced a fine Salmon for a first time fly fisher and what a fish weighing in at 11.5lbs and caught on a Trout rod at the Morgan's Rock by Mr Mel Smith of the UK with his gillie Sean Braine, also in good form was Mr John Bojtor of the UK who caught a fine 9lbs Salmon on the troll in Copal on the south side, with his Gillie Mr Mike O'Dwyer. Wind veering between WSW and WNW light to calm and overcast throughout the day with the odd bit of sun breaking through and when it did it was warm. 3/4/08 Again Mr John Bojtor of the UK was the King of the troll on Waterville lake, when he caught a fine lighting fresh 10lbs Salmon, with his Gillie Mr Mike O'Dwyer, they caught their Salmon going by the Holly Island in the mouth of the Commeragh, and I can tell you, a few Gillies went red with envy. Mr John Murphy our Commander-in-Chief was telling me that the water temperature was 8.5c/47f and the clarity of the water is very good which is all good news and if you want to learn more in depth you can contact John @ WWW.Loughcurrane.com Wind WSW and at times it veered WNW but to be honest you wouldn't hardly notice theses slight changes and just for the record once the low cloud lifted it was bright and sunny all day. air temperature in the shade on the North Shore 22c/71.6f. 4/4/08 Grate news, the first specimen Sea Trout was caught on the fly by Mr PJ Keating of Co Meath, and his fine Specimen Sea trout weighed in at 3.480kg/7.10.7533oz and his Gillie Mr Jack Freeney ESQ was telling me what a battle they had for half an hour on the North side of church island, talk about a wing and a prayer, all I can say is congratulations to PJ on his Great achievement and to Jack for guiding PJ onto a cracking fish. On the Salmon front Mr Walter Ruche of Switzerland caught a fine 11lbs Salmon on the troll with his Gillie Mr Frank Donnelly of WWW.Lakelandshouse.com Wind NW light to fresh and overcast. 5/4/08 All quiet after yesterdays celebrations of Mr PJ Keating's fine specimen Sea Trout and I can tell you there was a great party in the Lobster Bar last night, so as you can imagine the majority of anglers were suffering with high stool syndrome. Wind NE fresh to strong with plenty of sun breaking through, but very cold. 6/4/08 Much of the same today as yesterday in all departments and with that strong NE wind blowing it isn't surprising. Amount of rainfall 0.3mm a mixture of light rain and sleet, air temperature 8.7c/47.66f. That is all the news from your Gillie and the Waterville fishery. No Spin No Fly's just Facts.
