13/7/09 A massive flash flood this morning which didn't make for good fishing, as you can well imagine. The River Inny wasn't fishable until late morning and the Commeragh River was raging for most of the day, and on Lough Currane, there were a few Sea trout caught of which the best was 3.5lbs caught by Renée Lechmere fishing out www.Lakelandshouse.com and considering the rising Lake he did well.

Wind SW light to fresh at times, with the odd light shower in the afternoon. Amount of rainfall 37.7mm, max air temperature 17.8c. 14/7/09 They say a rising lake doesn't make for good fishing, so to all you pessimistic anglers who missed out on a good days fishing, as I did so my self, the facts are as follows, first in the Lough Currane's striking zone, was Mr Colin Lynham with a magnificent catch of ten Sea trout up to 3lbs on the fly in the Mouth of the Commeragh, with his Gillie Mr Michael O'Dwyer, now I will head for the drifting department and fish of the day goes to Mr Michael O'Sullivan with a 5lbs 3ozs Sea trout caught at the sisters, and in the words of Michael and I quote, I can tell you Vincent it was flat calm out there at the Sisters, when the Sea trout rose to my Black Panel, and that's no Bull and the rest is history, Mr Michael O'Sullivan of Waterville Boats and @ lobsterb@iol.ie was fishing with guests from the UK, also in good form in the Sea trout department was Mr Mark Dorman who caught six Sea trout up to 3lbs and finished the day off with a Grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr Bob Priestly and I was Talking to Mr Frank Donnelly of WWW.Lakelandshouse.com and he was telling that he and his clients caught a couple of nice Sea Trout as did some of his hired out boats, also in cracking form was Mr Renée Lechmere, with eleven Sea Trout up to 1,5lbs and all returned. Now for the poaching department I was reading on www.Loughcurrane.com that a Belgium Couple caught six Sea trout, and last but not least Mr Mark Coveney caught four Sea trout up to 3lbs. Wind SE then veered NE light to calm and overcast with the odd light shower, amount of rainfall 2.9mm, max air temperature 18.0c. 15/7/09 There were a few sea trout caught but no real rod benders but at least my noble Sea trout were rising, but all were taking short not like yesterday, but you try and tell that to Mr Renée Lechmere, because he caught 7 Seatrout up to 2.5lbs and just for the record Renée returned 6 out of his 7 Seatrout, and news just coming in from Lough Namona Mr German fishing with his good friend Mr Tommy O'Toole of Tralee caught a magnificent specimen Sea Trout of 8lbs 6.ozs so congratulations to both Anglers. Wind NW then veered W for a while then Veered back into the NW light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover at times, amount of rainfall 0.3mm, max air temperature 17.7c. 16/7/09 There was some good action in the Mouth of the Commeragh where Mr Colin Lynham contacted 12 Seatrout of which four were caught, and as usual Colin was fishing with his Gillie Mr Mike O'Dwyer, and in the drifting department Mr Renée Lechmere caught 7 Sea trout and last but not least guests fishing in a hired out boat from www.lakelandshouse.com caught 5 Sea trout up to 3lbs.Wind NW light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover at times. 17/7/09 Mr Mark Coveney and Mr John Curnenw caught one Grilse, now to the Seatrout department where there was some great fishing on the Waterville Fishery to day, and the facts are as follows, Mr. John Germyn caught a specimen Seatrout one of 8lbs on Lough Namona and staying with the upper lakes on Lough Derriana Mr Steven Galvin also caught a 8.5lbs specimen Seatrout, and back on Lough Currane a guest fishing in a hired out boat from www.Oshealoughcurrane.com caught a 6lbs specimen Seatrout, and staying with oshealoughcurrane.com one of their hired out boats caught 27 Seatrout, and just for the record I got these from our manger Mr john Murphy and www.loughcurrane.com there were also a few Sea Trout caught on the troll. Wind veering N to NW fresh to strong at times, with heavy cloud, amount of rainfall 0.8mm,max air temperature 17.2c.18/7/09 I will start today's facts with the start of Waterville Seatrout Festival and @ www.techamergin.com and with world champion Fly caster, Glenda Powell and @ www.ireland-salmon-fishing.net showing her great skill in fly casting and teaching and I can tell you that Glenda is a artist at her trade, both in casting and teaching and just for the record Glenda was showing her great Spay and roll and snake casting on the famous Butler Pool and of WWW.Watervillegolflinks.ie and in the Cookery department renowned Chef Mr Ivor O'Connor showed his skills in filleting Salmon and Seatrout, and cooking and teaching and I can tell you he made it look simple and his guests were telling me, that the end product was exquisite so next time your in Kerry drop into his restaurant in Ballinskelligs, I don't think you will be disappointed and in the evening we had the official opening of the festival and exhibition by Dr. Ed Fahy. Sorry for the delay in today's Salmon and Seatrout facts. There was one grilse caught by Mr Mark Coveney and Mr John Curnew and in the Sea trout department a guest fishing with his Gillie Mr Dominic Mc Gillicudy caught ten Sea trout, there were a few more sea trout caught by other anglers. Wind NW with heavy showers in the morning and light in the afternoon, amount of rainfall 6.6mm, max air temperature 16.5 c. 19/7/09 I will stay with the Waterville Seatrout festival and again Glenda, was in full control of her students young and old, at Waterville house, and at the close of the exhibition we had a illustrated talk by Dr. Edward Fahy and again a illustrated talk by Dr. Paddy Gargan of the Central Fisheries Board and @ www.cfb.ie and Vincent Hyland of www.vincenthyland.com showed a underwater film of Salmon and Seatrout and brown trout in the Waterville system and all in HD so if you have a bad days fishing get Vincent's DVD and you will see what you missed, and last but not least our Manger Mr John Murphy also gave a illustrated talk and after, we headed to the Waterville Fishery Hatchery and that was our ration of a great two day event. Now for today's facts, Mr john Berton and Mr Mike Murphy caught a fine basket of Seatrout up to 2lbs in a hired out boat from www.Lakelandshouse.com also in good form was a guest who caught a nice basket of Seatrout fishing with his gillie Mr Bob Priestly and on the evening shift a guest fishing with our manger Mr John Murphy caught a few Juniors in he evening. Wind WNW light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover, amount of rainfall 3.1mm, max air temperature 17.6c.That is your ration for this week, from your Gillie and the Waterville fishery.
