Vincent Appleby

3/3/08 extremely cold, with a strong NW wind, with violent gusts followed by hale stones and snow, air temperature 7c/44.6f even though one could fish it still was a day for the high stool and a pint, because my noble gentlemen the Salmon were not in a taking mood. Rainfall 9.2mm. 4/3/08 Again Lough Currane was on the slack side and with a NE wind and very little cloud cover certainly didn't help the cause, but at least we Anglers always have an excuse for not catching my Noble gentlemen. 5/3/08 A light wind coming from the west and overcast all day but at least one boat did see some action that was Mr Vincent O'Sullivan who caught a fine lightening fresh 8lbs salmon on the troll. 6/3/08 Wind SW fresh to strong and overcast but there was no activation in wild North Atlantic salmon. Amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours 8.4mm. 7/3/08 all quiet on the SW front Wind direction W fresh with the odd shower. 8/3/08 Not many boats out, thanks to a very strong WNW wind blowing even though one could fish along the North Shore in reasonable comfort. What boats were out failed in producing the old rascal. Amount of rainfall 5.0mm. 9/3/08 The calm before the storm and there was one hell of a racket as other Gillies watched with envy as Mr John Young of the UK and Waterville caught a lightening fresh 9lbs Salmon, with his Gillie/Guide Mr Vincent O'Sullivan and just for the record that is John's second Salmon on the troll fishing with Vincent. Wind SW fresh and overcast with the odd light shower and there is a big storm brewing up tonight, amount of rainfall 30.8mm and much of the same for tomorrow? That is all the news from your Gillie/Guide and the Waterville Fishery. No Spin No Fly's just Facts.
