Coldwater Bite still a Good Bet! by
C.A. Richardson (1/16/2011)
This time of year I have my eyes trained on my Raymarine's temperature reading... it tells me where I should concentrate my efforts. With this last blast of arctic air the water temps plummeted about 6 to 8 degrees on average making the everyday bite a little tougher to find!

When the cold north winds blow... tucking into the residential canal systems can be the difference between catching fish or striking out!

Last few trips have made for dew drinching foggy adventures. Light swells and 1/4 mile visibility combined with the hum of twin diesels can put you to sleep for 25 miles until the last mile clicks off the GPS and you begin to reminisce of past trips and chaos in the cockpit.

Great time of year for catching multiple species. Redfish inshore as well as snook. Large spanish mackerel, king mackerel and sharks off the beaches. Some tarpon around too. Plenty of bait available for all.
