Fishing on Guntersville is good, as usual. A lot of the fish have finished their spawning and this has made post-spawn patterns predominent, although there are still bass bedding. Deep crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, and big worms will get the job done. Fish shallow in the early morning and move deeper by mid morning. Expect to catch lots of small fish (the lake is full of them). I've been averaging a couple of good fish per day (5lbs or better).

The shad spawn still hasn't gotten full blown, but should around the next Full Moon. Catches should pick up considerably when this happens.

Fishing pressure on Guntersville Lake is overwhelming the quality-sized Bass population. Please practice catch and release. Take a picture, weigh, and measure length and girth for a replica then release your trophy to breed again(big fish breed big fish). Tournament anglers should monitor their livewells and keep water temperatures 10-15 degrees cooler than surface temps of the lake. Learn how and be prepared to fiz fish caught at extreme depths (if it lays on its side when put into the livewell it needs to be fizzed). If we all practice conservation this lake will produce fun for generations to come.

Good fishin'
