As of lately the snook fishing in lower Tampa Bay has been nothing short of spectacular.

Male snook in the 20-26 inch range have invaded

the flats and are hungrier than a starved dog with

two tapeworms.Look for moving water in areas with

structure or pot holes, flip a sardine and its on

"like Donkey Kong"!

Breeder size females are laid up at the beach.

They tend to feed better early in the morning or

late in the afternoon when its not so dang hot out. Try free lining a pinfish or grunt in the

the break along the beach and you may end up

with a trophy size snook. Make sure you handle

these fat girls with a little T.L.C. when you let

them go (they are in spawn).Remember a fatigued

fish can mean a dead one.

Fish Species: snook
Bait Used: sardines
Tackle Used: light
Method Used: free lining
Water Depth: 1-5 feet
Water Temperature: mid 80s
Wind Direction: sw
Wind Speed: 5-10 mph
