I had one of my BEST REGULAR CLIENTS AND FRIEND for a full day trip today on the St Johns River. This was one of those trips where you pray the night before that even with this bad cold front here the big fish bite. We started the morning off on a shallow flat just off the main river as the water temp was about 3 degrees warmer on the flat then the main river. It was slow with a 5 lb and a 3lb fish in the first 4 hrs.I was hoping that when the water got to 63 degrees things would change and boy did they. From 12 pm to 2 pm Bill had big fish blowing shiners out of the water every few minutes. In this two hr period Bill landed 6 fish between 7 3/4 and 9 3/4 pounds and we lost the fish of the day at the boat that was 11 lbs or better. This monster fish jumped beside the boat and made a run under the boat and there was no stopping her as she burned the line into on the bottom of the boat.Bill I want to thank you for sticking with me today and waiting this big fish out all morning.
