Fishing over the last couple of weeks has not given us too many surprises. Most of the daytime reef action has consisted of mostly hard fighting bonito and some kings and tunas mixed in as well. Another species that has made a pretty good showing are the mutton snappers. Lately it seems that we are getting a couple of mutton on almost every trip. Fishing some of the deeper wrecks is also producing nice Amberjacks or as some call them "Reef Donkeys".

Offshore the dolphin fishing has been very inconsistent. Some boats are running way offshore and coming back with very few fish to show for their efforts. Others have had some nice catches on the same days. The nice thing about dolphin fishing is that you are occasionally rewarded with a wahoo or two.

On days when the seas and currents cooperate deep dropping with electric reels can produce some nice fish dinners. Although it's not too sporty, it can be a lot of fun because you never know what you're going to catch.

As you can see, there is still quite a few fish out there capable of putting a bend in the rod. Even thought it has been a little hot out there, calm seas seem to offer some level of compensation. If you're thinking about going fishing contact me so that we can save the date.

Tight Lines,

Capt. Orlando Muniz
