Looking back I can remember some winters as cold as this one, but not many. My experience tells me that when we do come out of this deep-freeze, fishing will be extraordinary! Fishing right now is not bad despite water temperatures in the 30's. Saturday's N.A.T.A. Tournament out of Goose Pond took over 28 lbs. to win.

The main problems for me is the bites are super light (which means to many lost fish) and feeding activity is to short (only 2-3 bites max per sweet spot). All this will soon be picking up as the days become longer and warmer weather starts to prevail. Warmer days are forecast for the end of the week and I believe this will be the beginning of good things.

Rattle baits, shallow crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs are some of the best producers here for pre-spawn Guntersville Lake Bass. One of my personal favorites is the rattle bait.

I like to experiment with different sizes, colors, and makes. Bass can be a picky creature. So when the bite is tough try different stuff.

Something as simple as a change in lure speed can make a significant difference in the number of bites you get and also the quality.

If you would like to learn more about Winter patterns here on Guntersville Lake give me a call or drop me an e-mail to book a trip.
