This report begins at dawn on a Florida winter day for Florida residence and summertime weather for the Northern peolpe. We head out the St. Lucie Inlet due east approximately 4.5-5.5 miles out.
Once arrived at the fishing gorunds we drift north east using light tackle with sardines and small blue runners as the bait of choice. The bite started off slow with an occasional cut off or missed opportunity. But within the first hour it was every man for himself with Penn 7500 reels screaming all at the same time!
By the end of the run we boated four king mackeral up to twenty pounds. After re-rigging the lines and setting up for another drift we managed to land a few Black tip reef sharks.I decided to move after boating four sharks figuring that would probably keep the other hungry fish away!
Looking for a little change of pace I decided to start drifting the inside reef for some Cocktail Blues. After boating our bag limit of Bluefish we headed in for a fresh fish dinner that evening. That's my report for now! I am Capt. Sal from St. Lucie Sportfishing Charters.
