Today is April 13th and we finally have alot of ice moving on the lower parts of the SW Miramichi River. And rumours of ice starting to move up in the Doaktown area aswell. Cains river is very low aswell. But the forecast is calling for a heavy snowfall and we really need some rain instead.

The rivers are very low for this time of year, just like high water in the summer. So if coming fishing you may want to bring your chest waders just in case. Smaller flies may work better in this lower water. And Marabous work well in the shallow water. And try places where you might not think to try this time of the year, it may make it fun to experiment a little.

With all the fish that we seen last season go up our rivers we should have a very very good spring season. And a few warmer days and all the snow that's left in the woods will get our water heights up to normal level. So for all you fisherman that are thinking the worst about hour conditions think twice because you are going to have some very good spring fishing, find those hot spots you always have or the new ones you will find and get hooked up. And make more memories of the famous Miramichi come true to you.

I will be back in a couple more days with report for you.

Bye for now,

Rodney Colford of G.R.Colford & Sons Guiding Ltd.
