With the past few weeks being tough I thought I would try to give you some thoughts and ideas on some ways to get the bass to bite. I can't remember when I have seen the fall so tough but there are some ways to catch bass. I believe that the fall bite can offer up some rewarding days on the water regardless of the amount of baitfish that is covering the lake. It does take some thought and work and some examination of your current techniques. The first thing I would tell you is; know what is not working for you at the moment. If you can eliminate the patterns and or techniques that are not working then you have some place to start. So throw those techniques out, after they are eliminated then examine your presentations, have you been working the bait slow, if so get rid of a slow presentation like the worm bite. Now that you are aware of the speed and presentation issues that are not working then try examining what you have not tried to do.

The first thing that comes to mind for me is speed, if your slow presentation has not working then go to baits that you can work fast like burning a non-weighted worm over the top of scattered grass covered in active baitfish. Next go nuclear with color if traditional dark colors or colors matching the water are not working go to pure whites or bright colors like lime green or pink. If you have been slowly moving a spinner-bait over the top of the grass then start burning it over the grass. If your favorite spinner-bait has been gold colored blades then go to chrome colors. My believe is the fish are just not reacting to some traditional things that we are all use to so you must analysis your habits from color speed and baits and do some different things to find a bite. Be a smart angler analysis and change when fishing is tough!
