This article is about a spot at Uvas Dam in Morgan Hill, Ca. The story begins on a overcast day one week ago.

TnT (my sons and dedicated fishing partners) and myself went out on a cloudy day, before we left the house i had my son Trent grab my rod for me. I have 2 Mike Iaconelli rods, a 6"6' inch spinning and a 7" spinning rod (they look exactly alike), i normally use the 6"6' rod. We got out to the lake, stopped at aspot i had always had success in the past, i was using a Kelly Jordan Lucky Craft prop bait, i threw it out just off the edge of where a big one should be, as soon as the bait hit the water I realized my son had grabbed the 7" rod, i thought to myself "I got the wrong rod"....looked at my reel, then popped the lure once, as soon as I popped it again...POW !! the 4 pound plus bass smashed the bait, after a bit of a fight to keep the fish out of barbed wire...i landed the fish which is the first picture in this article.

Two days later, i went out by myself in the evening, i went to the exact same spot again, using the same bait, casted in the exact same spot, after 2 or 3 casts nothing...then on my 4th cast a big bass swirled on the bait but completely missed any hooks, after a few more castsI leftthe bassalone knowing the fishhad never made contact with the bait, continued fishing where i had 2 more even bigger bass do the same to me while using a big buzz bait. So it was now getting dark, with my head lamp on I walked back to the spot where i had started and where the big bass missed my bait earlier this trip, also where 2 days ago i had just caught a 4 pound plus bass. It was now pitch dark, i turned off my head lamp and made one blind cast in the dark, nothing....then i made the second blind cast, pop, pop, pop and POW !! the bass nailed the bait, after a fight in the dark, and once again keeping the fish out of the barbed wire in the dark, i landed this 3 plus bass, the action on this spot is just crazy.

Two days later, i went back out to the exact same spot, but this time it was early in the morning, Icasted my KJ prop bait in the spot where I had now caught 2 quality bass in 3 days, as soon as it hit the water a huge bass swirled on it and completely missed the bait, i had no more bites this day. That night, again exact same spot, same bait, it was the same time of night as the previous night, after a few casts, unbelievably, again this bass swirled, and misssed my bait, i could not believe it...i casted a bunch more times but nothing, but I knew the fish was there and again, had not got any hooks. I walked aroundand fished for another hour or so at some other spots I found on this lake, and again i missed some big bass that were just not hitting the buzz bait, i am talking some big bass. I was getting frustrated, but stayed positive and Inever gave up, once again getting dark, i headed back to this spot again, as I said knowing that I had gotten swirled on earlier, i got to the spot and it was even darker than the previous night where I had caught the3 plus, first cast in the dark seemed good, but i really dont know i couldnt see? No bites or swirls, second cast for some reason seemed bad, so i began just reeling in the prop bait which somnetimes can get you bit, it works this bait just like a buzz bait, the bait was getting close to the shore where there are thick weeds, as I began to lift the bait out of the weeds and out of the water I saw a wave from a bass chasing the bait all the way until the bait exits the water, i could not believe it, pitch dark and I saw this wave of a chasing bass....had to be big. So next cast i threw it out and just reeled it in, in the exact same spot where I had seen the wave, this bass just smashed this bait, i can assure you this bass was close to 10 pounds, the bass was hooked began pulling drag and within seconds the lure darted out of the water and the bass was gone, after i got over the initial shock of what had just happened, i realized the bait was stuck in my shorts, i had to cut it out with my Gerber multi tool, WOW !! what a rush. After I gained my senses, I just instinctively started casting again, one cast, two casts...then on my third cast...pop, pop, pop,.....POW !!! another big bass hit the lure, its now 9 in the evening and absolutely pitch dark, i fought the fish and finally got him in. This spot has yet to produce the fish I know is there, but wow what action, all on one spot, all this awesome topwater action within 4 days, pretty amazing !!

Stay tuned for more action from what I have deemed, The Money Spot at Uvas Dam.
