We had the opportunity to get out for 3 hours or so on Monday evening to fish a small bass water near our home called Ward Pond. The pond contains both largemouth and smallmouth bass but is genarally inaccessible to large bassboats and the general public. Betweeen the both of us we caught and released neearly 20 bass, the majority largemouth but also several smallmouth. Dropoffs near structure were the best locations, Just before dark we used surface plugs near a large rock pile for some exciting surface action. These little ponds with poor access are great spots to get a lot of action since fishing pressure is low. It is worth the time to explore these gems and find yourself a honey hole where you can count on fish willing to bite. Central Maine has many of these ponds to try.
