Smith Lake

July 17th, 2012

Before I head to bed, I figured I'd fill you in on the last couple days. Let me start by saying the fishing is good, not great. Thank god we caught some good fish today, because what followed was not so fun. While fishing today I could feel that my trolling motor mount was loose. On the trip home I hit a bump in the road and saw my trolling motor fly up and rip off the front. The only good news is the bracket broke and it wasn't the nose of my boat that broke. Other than that, fishing has been up and down. With the last two days producing better numbers. The biggest change lately is that most of the bigger schools have moved south of Big Bridge and Coon Creek. Spring Branch has had a good number of fish in it lately and so has the mouth of Bear Pen Creek. I have been fishing downlines from 20-60 feet throughout the week. I just finished a video where you can see a slide show of some of the trips from June. I will have it up on the front page of my website around 7 p.m. tonight after I wake up. I also have two new videos that focus on techniques and tactics for the summer month coming out soon. So if your interested in fishing Smith lake, give me a call or email.
