With the warmer weather this past week the bass have really picked up. We are catching most of them on watermelon/blue, shad, or rainbow trout colored flukes and V&M Porkshad. Any light colored spinnerbait and chrome rattletraps over and around the edges of the grass beds are working good too. Most of the bass have been along the edges of the deeper holes, sloughs, and creeks on Caddo. Crappie were great during the colder weather but slowed after it warmed this past week so I expect it to be excellent over the next couple of weeks with the colder weather coming. We have caught the majority of our fish using red/white, purple/white, and chart./red jigs on a cork 3-5 ft. down in 7-10 ft. of water. There are a lot of crappie in the main channel around Johnsons and in the bayous. Water temps as of 12/19 were 56-60 and cooling. The lake is about 1-1.5 ft. low and rising.
