Bio: I’m Captain Joe Ezell and I own Whiskey Bayou Charters, a fishing charter service based in Delacroix, Louisiana, within 45 minutes of downtown New Orleans. My passion for fishing stems all the way back from my childhood. When taking a trip with Whiskey Bayou Charters, you’ll be aboard a 25’ Majek bay boat that’s equipped with all the necessary safety and navigation gear. You’ll be fishing with tournament quality equipment to ensure that you have a great experience when fishing with Whiskey Bayou Charters. Because I want to devote myself to my clients and make sure everyone has the best experience possible, I will not book any trips that are shorter than a full day. All the gear and bait will be ready prior to your arrival, so all you have to focus on is having a great time fishing the inshore waters in the Delacroix marsh for species such as Redfish and Speckled Trout. A typical trip lasts around 6 to 7 hours or until you’re tired of catching and are ready to head back. In order to be prepared, we suggest you bring weather appropriate clothing and any other personal supplies you’ll need such as sunscreen, rain gear, and snacks â€" and don’t forget a valid fishing license! Rods, reels, and terminal tackle will be included in the price of the trip. In addition, anything that you catch will be cleaned, filleted, and bagged for you. If it happens to be raining on the day of your trip, I may still be able to fish unless the weather is dangerous, at which point I can reschedule or refund your trip. Louisiana is considered to be the fishing capital of the world because of the variety of fish species and just the sheer number of fish that can be found here. Fishing is my passion here at Whiskey Bayou Charters, and my goal is sharing that passion with our clients by creating an exciting and memorable experience!

A Steady Bite (4/01/2021)
[Delacroix,LA] Just over two weeks ago we had Everett and Debbie Atwood out of Northern Indiana aboard the Majek. The wind was down first thing and the water was phenomenally clear. We got on a steady bite and had their limit in the box by 12:30 with a few catch and releases to round out the day.

[Delacroix,LA] A little over two weeks ago we had Dan Lanford, his dad Bob and his sons Caleb and Fred out of Alabama aboard the Majek. The wind was down first thing but picked up; the water was up and looked great until the wind turned it over. We fished hard until 12:30 to finish with their limit.

[Delacroix,LA] Three weeks ago we had Logan Martin and Stan out of Alabama aboard the Majek. That day was more of the same with very high winds, very low and very dirty water. We fished hard until 3:30 putting 9 in the box and missing the 10th at the boat twice.

Three Fish to Crave (4/01/2021)
[Delacroix,LA] A few weeks ago we had Kathleen and Nancy out of Michigan aboard the Majek. Another day of very high winds, very low and very dirty water made it a challenge. We fished hard until 1:30 keeping 5, 3 to take to Crave for lunch, and 2 to grill on the half shell later.

[Delacroix,LA] Today we helped Captain Chad Dufrene with Dufrene's Guide Service on a two boat trip. The bite started slow but picked up as water temps rose. They ended the day with 15 keepers and 28 total on the clicker.

[Delacroix,LA] Wednesday we had Richard Ezell aboard the Majek. Cold temps, high winds and muddy water were all on the menu but we managed to grind out a limit of redfish and get to the dock in time for lunch.

[Delacroix,LA] Monday we had David Nichols, son Will and friend Alan Evans aboard the Majek. Rainstorms were all around this morning but my crew stayed with it until the last fish hit the ice!

A cold Front greeted us once again with spitting rain and falling temps through the day and wind built steadily turning N N/E by mid-day. They weren’t keeping fish so we went to work, never finding anything stacked but we figured them out by 10 and caught and released 14 before calling it a day.

[Delacroix,LA] A few weeks ago we headed out after some more of these winter Delacroix redfish but a steady rain greeted us as we backed the boat out. We got on a steady pattern and boated fish at every stop putting their limit together in time to make it to town for lunch.
