Breton Sound Meat Haul (2/09/2012)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had Grady Erwin and his two sons wanted to get out to the Sound and catch a bunch of Sheepshead. The conditions look iffy. The wind forecast was 10-15 and a front with rain was on the way. We left the dock with fog and some breeze blowing. I decided to stop short in the marsh and look for some Reds. We made a couple of stops, but only managed to put two Reds in the box. The tide was low and falling so I decided to give going outside a shot.
Monday Trout haul at the Beach (12/21/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Monday Trout haul at the Beach. WT Myers brought down Bill, John, and Ed for some of our spectacular winter fishing. The water was low and still falling as we headed over to the Lake Robin area. We made our first stop in Bayou Batola. Fishing with Campo's live shrimp on the bottom the guys put some good Trout in the boat. The bite looked like it was really going to turn on, but it faded out as the tide did with 30 Trout and a couple Reds on ice.
The fishing is red hot at the Beach!!! (12/15/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] The fishing is red hot at the Beach!!! After a stop by Campo's for bait I headed over to Proctor's Landing where I picked up Lenny, Todd, John, and Brock at Lenny's camp. We headed over to the Lake Robin area and where I stuck the Power Pole once and we never moved. Fishing with Campo's live shrimp under a cork the guys were flinging very nice Trout in the boat one after the other.
Good as it gets at the Beach Monday (11/22/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Yesterday I got to take my father in law JC and my daughter Izabella fishing. It was real foggy as we pulled from Campo's, but no problem for the radar. We headed over to the Lake Robin area and only picked up one Trout at our first stop. Our second stop did not produce much more except a couple nice Trout and a good Red that Izabella caught. From there we headed to a lagoon that I caught them in Friday and it was the right move.
Friday report from the Beach (11/20/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] AG Davis brought three of his buddies from Houston to show them what incredible fishing we have here in Shell Beach. There was a chill in the air and the NE wind made for a brisk ride to our first stop in the Lake Robin area. Fishing with Campo's live shrimp under a cork the guys started to put some good Trout in the box with a couple of Puppy Drum mixed in.
Tuesday report from the Beach (11/11/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] The wind was blowing pretty good ahead of the coming cold front and the tide was rising nicely. We headed over to some no name ponds off of the Twin Pipeline. At our first stop near a point Gary pulls in a nice bass while I am pulling in a nice Trout.
Weekend report from the Beach (11/09/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Two fun filled days of fishing in cold windy conditions. Lots of fish caught and a great time by all.
Fun Wednesday at the Beach (10/26/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Today the Herman boys were onboard, Don, Chris, and their dad Don. After a stop by Campo's for bait we headed over to the Hopedale marsh where we stopped by the mouth of a bayou with the tide falling out of it. Fishing with Campo's live shrimp under a cork the guys started to put some pretty Trout in the boat.
Fun day with the girls at the Beach (10/25/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Sunday I had the rare pleasure of taking my daughters Elizabeth and Izabella fishing along with my niece Sydney. My girls love to fish, but our schedules (school, work, charters, and weather) rarely line up so we can hit the water together. We headed over to the Lake Amadee area and found boats in the main spots I wanted to fish, but that did not matter since the plan B spots were full of fish too.
Good day at the Beach (10/21/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] After a stop at Campo's for bait we headed over to Lake Amadee on a picture perfect morning. We made two stops today and the guys filled the boat with Trout fishing with Campo's live shrimp under a cork.
Fun afternoon yesterday on the Beach (10/12/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] We headed over around Lake Amadee and it started off a little slow at the first few stops. The tide was slack, but we did pick up a couple fish at each stop. Made a stop near the point of a small island and got on a good Trout bite with a couple Reds and Drum mixed in.
Great day on the Beach yesterday (10/12/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] As predicted the winds were strong as we left Campo's, but usually is with these guys. The wind kind of follows Brian around, but so do the fish. We made one stop around Lake Amedee and that was all it took to over fill the box.
Fun on the Beach yesterday (8/24/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had the pleasure of fishing with John and his dad. We started off on the edge of the Sound fishing with Campo's live shrimp under a cork. The Trout were there and coming to the boat at a good clip till a big Bull Red came and busted up the party.
Fun Friday on the Beach (7/31/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had the pleasure of fishing with the Renshaw Group of Brian, Terry, Chris, Kenny, and Stan. As we left the dock things looked calm, but the buoys said it was blowing outside. We made our way on out to Eloi and got on the leeside of an island. It did not take long at all for the first cork to go down.
Got a chance to fish with the Old Man again (7/30/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] A few years ago my dad went in the hospital for a simple procedure that changed everything. Long story short four long years, lots of close calls, and a lung transplant he was able to come see me and spend some time on the water.
Report for the John Kellum group from the Beach (7/29/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] John brought his sons down for a day of Trout fishing. We started off in Bay Eloi and bounced around a few rigs picking up a few fish here and there, but lots of small fish junk would not leave us alone. With the winds calm and the water slick we hit the Sound and fished a few on the deeper rigs.
Regan Leopold Group (7/29/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Ran a trip last week taking out part of the Regan Leopold group. I picked the guys up at the camp and we ran straight out to the Sound with the live well loaded with Campo's live shrimp and croakers. Our first stop produced a few good Trout till the teeth fish and monster Drum took over.
Time to catch up (7/21/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Time to catch up on some late reports from last week at the Beach. Things started off Monday with Larry and Linda Abbott along with their two grandsons. We were greeted by a stiff breeze as we headed out to Bay Eloi.
Sunday I had Paul, Pablo, Enrique, and Mark on the boat (7/12/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Sunday I had Paul, Pablo, Enrique, and Mark on the boat. The guys have fished with me many times and know how to put a hurt on the Trout. We started off In Lake Fortuna and caught a few Trout where I found them the day before, but this day the little ones where thick. We made a move over to Eloi and got a hot Trout bite.
Last week on the Beach (7/04/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Monday I had Larry Abbott, his wife, and a friend. We were greeted by a little breeze as we hit Eloi and bounced around a few rigs picking up a few Trout at each, but could not get a good bite going. Finally late in the morning we got on a good bite of some nice Trout.
Monday on the Beach (6/21/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] We were greeted by a south west wind that was blowing pretty good. We started out on a lee shore line and got on a very short lived bite of some nice Trout with Campo's live shrimp under a cork. From there we covered plenty ground fishing lee shorelines with plenty of action at every stop.
Thursday fun on the Beach (6/10/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had the pleasure of fishing with Casey, his son Cody (7), and Jeff. There was a little breeze blowing, but not bad. We started out hitting a couple rigs in Eloi and got on a good bite at the second stop.
Two days of fun on the Beach (6/07/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] Friday and Sunday I had Omar and Keith onboard. They come from San Diego to fish with me often. On Friday the winds were calm so we ran straight out deep into the Sound looking for some big fish. We bounced around a couple rigs picking up a few big Trout on each. We did get on a hot and fast bite, but the Trout were a little smaller than usual for these rigs. Still they were good Trout and we quickly filled our limits.
Friday and Saturday report from the Beach (5/30/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] The wind was blowing a little so we sat on the Rocks with the 500 other boats out there. The guys kept picking away at the fish, but the action eventually slowed. The wind dropped just a hair so I stuck my nose out toward the Sound and slowly made our way out in the chop. Once we got out there the water was clean and green and the guys started to put some pretty Trout in the boat.
Late report for last Friday at the Beach (5/10/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] The water was like glass and the Trout were eating up on Campo's live shrimp under cork. When the bite slowed down we made a move and found some more Trout. The bite was a lot slower, but the size was a lot better. Mixed in with the Trout were a lot of Sheepshead.
Report for last weekend from the Beach (4/14/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had groups both Friday and Saturday and both days the boat could hold no more fish. Friday I had AG and Walter both in from Houston. When we left the dock the wind was blowing a little, but when we hit Bay Eloi it is was foggy and the water got flat so out to the Sound we went.
Late report for last weekend at the Beach (4/08/2011)
[Shell Beach,LA] We made one stop in the Sound and loaded the boat with all the Sheepshead we could fit in the boat. Also got a few Reds and Drum for the box and couple monsters ones that were released.
Tuesday Report from the Beach (12/23/2010)
[Shell Beach,LA] The water was a cold 48*, falling, and very low. We made several stops in the Biloxi Marsh with only one Trout and a few Heads to show for. We worked our way to Stump Lagoon and around noon the tide started to slow up some, the water got a little warmer, and the Trout and Reds ate up.
About as good as it gets at the Beach (11/26/2010)
[Shell Beach,LA] The fishing right now is some of the best of the year and close to the launch. The mild weather has made for some very nice days to be on the water. The Pat Tesson group of three had a great day. We made one stop in Lake Robin and limited out on Trout.
Another great day on the Beach (10/18/2010)
[Shell Beach,LA] So it was just Stan, Sydney, and me. As we left Campo's we saw some birds working in the MRGO. We headed over to check them out and found the Trout eating on shrimp. Sydney was having a blast catching the biggest Trout of the day and also the only Red.
Windy day at the Beach (7/08/2010)
[Shell Beach,LA] It seems like Brian has a knack for bringing the wind with him when he comes to town and Monday was no exception. We started out to where I have been on a good Trout bite, but about half way there conditions ruled that out. From the looks of things it looked like a Redfish kind of day and the guys put a hurt on them.
Last Friday's report from the Beach (6/02/2010)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had Robert Perilloux and his son onboard for the day. We fished in Bay Eloi with Campo's live shrimp under cork and the guys put some nice Trout in the box. The bite was not fast, but it was steady and the Trout solid.
Late report for Thursday from the Beach (5/24/2010)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had the pleasure of fishing with Jim Walther, John, Jeff, and Keith. I picked the guys up at Jim's camp and we headed out to Bay Eloi. The wind was blowing pretty hard and did not leave us too many options. Fishing with Campo's live shrimp and croakers the guys put some good Trout in the box.
Friday report from the Beach (3/07/2010)
[Shell Beach,LA] The water was dead low and under 50*, but the wind was not bad so we hit the Sound. We made a couple stops with nothing to show for till our third rig. Here the guys started putting some fish in the boat.
Late report for Wednesday from the Beach (1/31/2010)
[Shell Beach,LA] My guests for the day were Michael and his dad Richard. I was hoping that we would have a nice calm day so we could head out to the Sound and chase Reds and Heads since the reports from the marsh have not been so hot for Trout. Instead the tide was dead low and falling with the wind blowing. Good thing was that the temps were mild and the sun was shining.
Late report for Sunday from the Beach (12/04/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] My crew for the day were Larry, Kerry, Bob, and Bob. After a stop by Campo's for some live shrimp we headed over behind Hopedale. The weather was clear, cold, and a very light wind. We started out in deep bayou fishing on the bottom. The guys put a lot of Trout in the boat, but there plenty throwbacks mixed in.
Fun Saturday and Sunday on the Beach (11/18/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had the pleasure of fishing with Omar and Keith from San Diego. Both have fished with me several times before. The weather was perfect, cool, clear and little wind. They were more interested in catching Reds, Drum, and Heads than Trout. They would rather something that fights back.
Windy day Friday at the Beach (11/01/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had the pleasure of fishing with Chris Hermann, his dad, father in law, and brother in law. The water was high and so was the wind as we left Campo's. We headed over behind Hopedale. Tried out a little different area not far from where we have been killing them. The bite was steady, but never fast and the Trout were nice sized.
Good day on the Beach today (10/07/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] We had a light SW wind and a good falling tide. We started out in Lake Borgne and got on a couple good Trout bites working along the shore with live shrimp under a cork. There were plenty throwbacks mixed in at first. With a move to another section of the shore we got on some better Trout.
Last Thursday's report from the Beach (10/06/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] We started out in Lake Borgne and on got a few Trout early, but the bite was short lived. There was no tide moving in the Lake or the Biloxi Marsh. We picked up a few fish here and there, but lots of throw backs. Got a call from Capt. Frank that he was on a good bite so we headed his way.
Fun Wednesday on the Beach (10/05/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] We headed over behind Hopedale in Lake Robin. We did not find any Trout, but did find some nice Puppy Drum. We then moved on and hit several spots with little to show for. We fished a lagoon off the Twin Pipeline and got on a good bite.
Windy Tuesday last week on the Beach (10/05/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] Robert Perilloux brought down a group of nine fishermen for some Shell Beach fishing fun. Capt. Frank took four and the rest hopped in my boat. We fished the Biloxi Marsh with some windy conditions and plenty of water. Fishing with Campo's live shrimp under a cork the action was non stop.
Birthday fun Sunday on the Beach (10/02/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] Max wanted to go fishing for his birthday. His dad Alan brought him, his brother Eli, and friends Gordy, Grant, James, and Rajan. Alan's friend John jumped on to help with the kids. Capt. Mark took half the group and I the other.
Late report for Saturday at the Beach (10/02/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] Fishing with Campo's live shrimp under a cork the guys got on a good trout bite. The Trout were nice and fat 16-18 fish. Once this bite faded we made a few moves and found some more Trout.
Late report from last week with Jim Walther (9/02/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] I picked Jim and his friends Clint and Bucky from Jim's camp. Armed with Campo's live shrimp and croakers we headed over to an island in Machias that has been holding some good Trout. The guys put a few in the boat, but never could get them going.
Late report for Thursday from the Beach (7/27/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] We headed out to the Sound and got on a slow but steady bite of some nice Trout fishing with Campo's live shrimp on a light Carolina rig. The action would start and stop then start again. We stuck with it till it died out with over 90 Trout on ice.
Hot fun on the Beach last week (6/22/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] Wednesday I had Jim Walther and crew. I picked the guys up at Jim's camp and off to the Sound we went. We made a stop in Eloi and got a good Trout bite. Once this bite died off we went further out and got on a steady bite on some big Trout.
Lots of fun and lots of fish on the Beach (6/01/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] The Trout fishing outside has been outstanding now that the winds have laid down and the Reds in the marsh have been good when the wind has been blowing. Yesterday Pablo, his son Gabriel, Paul, and Broady killed the Trout out in Breton Sound.
Late report from Monday (5/13/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] We made a stop by Campo's and they still had some cast net caught live shrimp. Good thing they did too. The Trout only wanted the shrimp.
Big fun on the Beach Wednesday (4/20/2009)
[Shell Beach,LA] Big fun on the Beach Wednesday. My crew for the day was Eric, Andrew, Shawn, and Richard. The winds gave us a break and we were able to hit the Sound. Our first couple of stops were a little slow with plenty of hardheads. We hopped around and got on a good bite.
