This is an update as of 3/13/07 on halibut fishing regulations for area 3 of Alaska. This covers the ports of Seward, Valdez, Homer, Cook Inlet from Deep Creek and Ninilchik etc. There are several rumors out there that the limit for 2007 is one fish per day which is NOT true. The commercial fishermen were unsuccessful in their attempt to limit sport fishermen to one fish this year. The bag limit for halibut will be two per person per day.

There is one change that was made which affects crewmembers only- crewmembers will not be permitted to catch and land halibut in 2007. This should be of barely minimal impact on you as a client.

There is a possibility that in area 2, which is the southeastern panhandle of Alaska (Sitka, Petersburg, Juneau, etc), that there may be a size limit on the second fish but as of now, even that is not a "for sure" change.
