Honolulu - Saltwater Fishing Report

All i can say is 'Wow'! Melissa and Waylan Holmes were on fire, yesterday! Yet hooked 9 bonefish from 1-10 lbs with 3 in the 10 lb range.

Only 2 fish were landed but fooling the fish and the blistering runs made thier day. Most of the fish were hooked in an area with many red mangroves and when the bones got about 100 yards away, the sharp barnacles on the roots played in their favor. A couple times we were very close to turning them but they had enough energy to get us with one more burst. The action was non-stop and being first time bonefishers, they are hooked for life! They promised to send me pictures so i'll post them in the next report.

As i stated in previous reports, we are coming into some really good bonefishing now that winter/spring is over. Sunny skies and warmer water will allow for non-stop action. We starting to get much better tides making it easy to connect the dots and find fish all day.

If you plan on coming and are flexible, it's best to contact me and i can steer you to the best tides and moon phases. As always, i will move you around, if days permit, to give you the best weather when you do arrive. Remember, wind is your friend as it makes the fish far less spooky as Melissa and Waylan found out. So be prepared and practice casting on windy days. The casts are short but quick, accurate tosses pay off in dividends!!!! See you on Oahu, Aloha!
