Honolulu - Saltwater Fishing Report

On saturday, i had the pleasure to fish with Mike Schaeffer and friend Tony. They had never bonefished before but were up for the challenge.

We decided to do a half day in the afternoon due to extremely low tides. After a couple of hours with little tide or action, we finally started to get some water. With the tide, came the bones.

Quickly, they each hooked up. Mike pulled the hook on his but Tony was able to land a smaller 2-3 lb bonefish. He was amazed with the speed and power of such a small fish. Mike then lost a much larger fish to a marker after a blistering run. Tony landed another bone almost the same size. Mike would not be denied and landed one a little bigger. Tony then lost a nice one to the edge of the flat. the action was non-stop as fish started to dump on the flat from all sides!

As it started to get dark, bonefish tails could be seen everwhere! Rainbows could be seen all over the mountains like we had found the poverbial 'pot of gold'! If we only had another hour of light who knows how many we would have hooked? These are the moments of fishing we dream about and reason fisherman are such optimistic creatures. Pictures to come soon.

Honolulu Fishing Forecast:

This is our toughest time of the year with fronts and rain but so far the weather has been great more often than not! Go when it's nice. I will move around clients if the book allows it.

Don't wait for the weather to change. Island weather really changes rapidly.
