Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Mike Bird and his crew from Baton Rouge, Mike, Chris (Black Cloud), and Daryl. We again woke up to a stiff breeze out of the south west.
Started off in Eloi picking through tiny fish. That didn't last long as I am one to burn gas before bait. We made a round tour from there on out, trying to stay protected on the western shores of Fortuna and Black Bay with not much to show. Around 10 the wind started to lay some and Mike kept asking about heading out, and I told him that would be a good idea if the crew could handle the chop.
Off we went, to 5 wells, 32, stopped at the dopeboat for 2 minutes until the "Dude" had come to ZZZZZ how close he could get. After that we headed towards Central and hit paydirt.
The guys were a little rusty to start, but caught on quick and made good work of the bite. They ended the day with 71 pretty speckled trout all caught on live boogie shrimp carolina rigged on a 1/4 oz lead.
It's like a broken record right now how awesome the fishing is. It is the time we talk about every single year!! If you've ever contemplated a guided trip, do yourself a favor and do it.....like NOW!!!
