Please excuse me for not putting out a more detailed report but I have been working nearly everyday for the last two weeks. I'm tired and it's "HOT" out there!

AUG 8th ...Morning ...John Mannix ...Light Spin Tackle.

Lots of Big Bluefish landed couldn't find any Stripers.

AUG 9th ...Morning ... Howard Levin ...Fly-fishing.

Two small Stripers of about 25 inches on the flats and 11 large Bluefish landed.

AUG 10th ...Morning ...Riccardo and Alex ...Light Spin Tackle.

Lots of large Bluefish landed and many more short strikes.

AUG 11th ...Morning ...John Buffa ...Light Spin Tackle.

three Stripers, 9, 12 and 14 lbs. plus about a dozen large Bluefish.

AUG 11th ...Afternoon ...Sean Patrick ...Fly-fishing.

Sean had about six shots at Stripers on the flats but could only hook-up with one that measured in at 29 inches. Plenty of large Bluefish were landed and plenty of flies were taken away by Bluefish.

AUG 12th ...Morning ... Frank Thomas (not the ball-player) Light Spin Tackle.

Couldn't find Stripers but landed lots of large Bluefish and on the way back lots of 4 to 5 lb. Blues throughout the Bay.

AUG 14th ...Full-day ...Michael Salzhauer and Lou Rosado Jr.

We thought we had some good reports of Football Tuna out at 7 to 10 miles southeast of Block Island and with the weather in our favor and calm seas we headed out. Both anglers hooked up and landed lots of those large Bluefish on the way to Montauk Pt. where we fueled up, got ice and tackle. When we got to the spot we trolled for about 4 hours and only seen two splashes off in the distance but never got a hit. Both Michael and Lou did have hook-up with Stripers and Bluefish out at the midway bouy, also known as the sub/bouy.

QUESTION! Does anyone know what that platform is thats located at 7 miles southeast of Block Island ? it looks like an oil or gas rig that you would see in the gulf. It big and sits in 90 feet of water but you wont find it on Google Earth.

AUG 15th ...Full-day ...James and Casey Cooper ...Light Spin Tackle.

These two brothers spent the entire day casting to those giant Bluefish. They must have landed 20 or so, lost 20 or so and had another 50 or so short strike. They complained at the dock that their arms were sore and they were tired.

AUG 16th ...Morning ...John and Jannine DeMeritt ...Light Spin Tackle.

Started the morning drifting live Eels with John landing one Striper and Jannine landing two Stripers, these were about 8 to 9 lbs each. Later that morning both hooked up and landed about 15 large Bluefish.

AUG 16th ...Afternoon ...Arik, Evelyn and Ron ...Light Spin Tackle.

Lots of short strikes and more short strikes, frustrating! Arik did manage to land three Big Bluefish with Evelyn and Ron landing one each.

AUG 17th ...afternoon ...James and Casey Cooper ...Light Spin Tackle.

Both anglers were back on board for more punishment and so the big Bluefish gave it to them. We didn't keep count but once again they said their arms were sore when done landing these fish.

AUG 18th ...Morning ...Blake Davis and his friend Paul ...Fly and Spin.

Blake was on the bow with the fly rod and Paul in the stern using Spin. It was onlt about 10 minutes into fishing that Blake hooked up as the line screamed out of his reel with a big Bluefish running off with the fly but at soon as it took place it ended with this monster biting right through 30 lb. test braided wire. Paul kept getting chases and short strikes but nothing would take his plug. after about a half hour, Blake hooked up again on the fly. This time the big Blue went deep and was followed by other big Bluefish that wanted to get what was in it's mouth. At any rate there was a ping! as the fly-line came shooting out of the water past our heads. It was chopped off at about six foot up the tapered leader by another Blue.

Both anglers kept casting, pouring sweat in that still heat, never giving up. I cast out a plug in frustration and was lucky enough to hook-up and land the only that weighed in at 12 lbs. bluefish ......I hate fishing along with my clients.

AUG 18th ...afternoon ...Bernie Cornick, his son Ken and their friend Sam ...Light Spin Tackle. When we arrived at my spot I told them of the mornings charter and that we were skunked .....so work extra hard ...lol.

Within 10 minutes everyone was hooked up and landing a fish, one after another. It's hard to believe that in the course of one hour ( thats how long it is for me to bring in the morning charter and get back out there with the afternoon charter) these same fish were now eating as though they were starving. This action went on for about two hours. It's not to say we didn't get short strikes and false chases, we did! but many more fish took the plug in the afternoon. On the way back in I stopped at Eastern Plains Pt. were all three anglers kept hooking up with 3 to 4 lb. Bluefish.

AUG 19th ...Morning ...John and Jannine DeMeritt ...Light Spin Tackle.

We could not raise any Stripers, no matter what we tried and so we settled for those giant Bluefish!!! chases, short strikes and hook-ups. Great Fishing!

Some of my anglers asked if these fish would eat a swimming or metal lure ? my answer is yes when their eating. When their not, they just follow and not take it.

DUE TO THE LOWER PRICE OF FUEL AT THE MARINA'S, I HAVE BROUGHT MY CHARTER PRICES BACK DOWN TO $400.00 -FOR A HALF-DAY AND $600.00 FOR A FULL-DAY ... THESE ARE 2007 PRICES AND I HOPE IT HELPS WITH THE ECONOMY HURTING EVERYONE.

Bio:  Hi, my name is Capt. Ken Rafferty and welcome to my web site. I am a Fishing Guide located on the East End of Long Island, N.Y. based in Three Mile Harbor, East Hampton. I have been Fishing these waters for over 30 years and Guiding for the last 15 of those years. I'm told I'm an amicable and a patient Guide who will go out of his way to make your day on the water a pleasant and successful one. In the early spring ( MAY ) you can choose to go for Stripers and Weakfish and soon after as the season progresses ( JUNE ) those tenacious Bluefish arrive and stay with us all summer long right into the late fall, joined by larger Striped Bass that like to hide among the rocks in our bays, harbors and on our flats where you can go site-fishing for them. In the fall season ( SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER ) the harbors, inlets and bays get inundated with bait fish such as Sand Eels, Bay Anchovies, Squid, Bunker, Herring and right there to feed on them before migrating south are larger Striped Bass, giant Bluefish, Bonito and False Albacore that can range up to 15 lbs.
