Today I had Terry, from Calgary, and his friend Jeff, from Ireland, floating the bow with us. We put in at Policeman's flats and floated down to Mac. We had bright blue skies and sunshine for Canada day which should be tough conditions for trout fishing....someone forgot to tell the trout that though. Terry started off the day on fire, but Jeff wasn't far behind. He had hooked a number of fish that kept throwing the hook (turns out these fish are pretty good at that). We picked up fish on nymphs but the real story of the day was the dry fly fishing (PMD's during the day caddis in the evening). I would pull the boat in and walk banks looking for snouts then get the guys to come and cast to rising fish.

Late afternoon brought in a thunderstorm and rain we waited out, but the waiting was rewarded as a giant double rainbow stretched out across the sky that originated out of my boat. You could see it faintly stretching almost underwater in front of the boats well...really amazing.

I flipped over a bunch of rocks today and stonefly nymphs are everywhere. Any day now the adults should be hatching in full force...I couldn't believe how many adults I was finding under the rocks.

At one point we found a 24"ish brown rising repeatedly, almost as if he was OCD and couldn't stand the thought of any bug making it past his post. Jeff sent a few flies his way and got him to eat but we just didn't hook him up.

Another great Canada day on the bow.
