Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 11/8/09

How about pre-winter angling? This past weekend found lots of folks on the water during the mid-day time period.

Hunt in the early morning, fish mid-day, hunt before sunset, it doesn't get any better.

Anglers presently using Live bait and artificials with the same amount of success. Jig and minnow presentation at 30-38' doing a good job on reef edges and sand bars.

Troll shorelines at 18-22' for both walleyes and pike. A slow presentation works best, keep lure near the bottom.

Favored locations on Kabetogama, Ash River, Blind Ash, Lost Bay and The Martin Islands. Try trolling lures around Pine Island, Chase Island and the Lost Bay shorelines.

Grouse hunters report plenty of birds, the past week was one of the best in several years.

Deer hunters having fun, enjoying the weather and find they need lots of patience as daytime movement of deer isn't quite up to par for this area.

The best kill time for deer hunters is mid-afternoon to Sunset.

Forecast looks good for late season anglers, at least through Friday. Looks like a good late season opportunity to get your monies worth out of your licenses.

See you Soon,

Phil & Ellen Hart
